Protecting the Environment

TXI is part of the solution and it has the track record to prove it. A leader in the fight against pollution, TXI has been a pioneer in developing innovative methods for recycling. Its patented cement-making process -- CemStar™ -- significantly reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the cement-making kiln process. Today, cement producers throughout the United States use that process, resulting in a cleaner environment nationally. In 1999, the Environmental Protection Agency recognized TXI’s positive efforts by awarding it the prestigious U.S. EPA Climate Protection Award.

The Company constantly seeks new ways to utilize innovative technologies in its environmental protection programs. TXI has found ways to use recycled tires, recycled concrete and recycled waste fuels and water in its manufacturing process. TXI Energy Services even works with the oil and gas industry to help with its recycling efforts.

TXI’s goal is to be a good steward of the environment. In pursuing this objective, the Company has developed recycling technologies that allow it to be part of the solution to environmental problems and a good corporate neighbor wherever it has facilities.
