SCHOOL EDUCATION  /  TXI employees participate in various education programs to share the different aspects of our industry with elementary through high school students. One example is the Rocks For Breakfast Program, which demonstrates how much of our lives is touched through aggregate, concrete and cement products.

The presentation is geared for younger students and certainly opens a lot of eyes. The program shares information not only about how products like aggregates and concrete are produced, but also how everyone comes in contact with these products every single day. It also does it in a way that is engaging and interesting and allows our younger generations to get a hands-on look at what our industry does. What’s more, this program is interactive and really allows children to see and touch the materials that we produce.

TXI also regularly hosts plant tours for students where they can have a true hands-on experience to see how aggregate is mined and understand the practices that TXI employs to conserve our natural resources, such as water. Students are given the opportunity to hear from TXI operations people how the material is mined as well as how it is used. They get the chance to see the operations first hand – from the control room technology used to mine and process the material to the equipment used to process the aggregate to the techniques used to extract the material. It is a truly thrilling experience for these students to be able to see such large pieces of rolling equipment in action and we encourage our local schools to come out and visit us regularly.

HIGHER LEARNING  /  TXI regularly participates with surrounding universities and colleges through presentations that highlight the various environmental and economic benefits of the products that we manufacture. We interact through classroom participation to increase their knowledge of our industry and our environmental commitment.

INTERNAL EDUCATION  /   TXI believes that our greatest assets are our people. TXI employees nation wide are dedicated to turning innovative ideas into leading products and services that can contribute to solve many of the our industry’s toughest environmental challenges.
