PETROCHEMICAL SUPPORT SERVICES top

Remediation Services

TXI is dedicated to providing environmental services that benefit both people and the planet. Our Energy Services division removes and recycles a variety of non-hazardous byproducts from petrochemical refineries and remediation sites. A key component of our refinery support services is the transportation of bulk materials between refineries. We own our own fleet of trucks, so we can efficiently gather and distribute new and used products where needed.

As an alternative to landfilling and the long-term ownership responsibilities of landfill contents, TXI developed and patented new technology to manage and reuse non-hazardous refinery waste products, such as fluid cracking catalyst (FCC) and CIWA dirt. This patented process converts non-hazardous refinery byproducts into reusable materials for the production of cement and other aggregates.

TXI cement materials are used to stabilize and solidify sludge pits and other refinery waste sites. Our refinery service manager is certified as a solidification and stabilization expert, allowing us to provide all of the materials, machines and men for two of the largest remediation projects in Texas history.

We work closely with our refinery customers to ensure that reagent mixtures meet their specifications, as well as those of governmental and local agencies.

In addition, we are participants in numerous research projects conducted by major universities to understand how refinery byproducts can be reclaimed to help protect the environment.

Oil Well Cements

TXI Lightweight oil/well cement is a low-density cement that may be mixed over a range of 12.0 to 14.2 pounds per gallon. As a fine grind cement with a typical blaine surface area of 8,000 square centimeters per gram. Free fluid is kept low across the density range, making this an excellent onshore and offshore cement for all well depths. Strength is superior to light weight cements made using conventional technology.

In addition to being the only manufacturer in the world of lightweight oil well cement, TXI also manufactures and distributes three classifications of American Petroleum Institute-monogramed cements:

  • Class A: a "general purpose" cement for use at low to moderate temperatures. Available in bulk only
  • Class C: a moderate sulfate-resistant (MSR) cement for use in depths down to 6000 ft from the surface.
  • Class H: a high sulfate-resistant cement (API Spec 10A) is a high-quality well cement for use with accelerators and retarders to cover the entire range of oil and gas well depths and temperatures.

PRESSUR-SEAL CG LCM top

PRESSUR-SEAL™ CG LCM is engineered for use as a lost circulation additive in cement slurries. This high-strength granular material is chemically inert and effectively aids in controlling losses of cement into pores and fractures without significantly affecting compressive, flexural and tensile strength. Cement containing PRESSUR-SEAL LCM maintains excellent set properties and cement durability is not adversely affectedat downhole conditions. Unlike other commonly used LCMs, PRESSUR-SEAL™ CG LCM will not fail during tough drilling operations.

Features

  • Broad particle size distribution (PSD) of less than 149 micrometers (100 mesh) to 4,750 micrometers (4 mesh), engineered for optimum bridging and sealing
  • Unique PSD is specially formulated for sealing fractures
  • Special grades can be blended to custom specifications
  • Inert in well construction fluids
  • Bonds chemically and mechanically in cements
  • Porous with low apparent specific gravity
  • High mechanical strength
  • Durable at extremely high temperatures (up to at least 600 F)

Benefits

  • Has minimal effect on slurry properties.
  • Bridges a wide range of porous matrices and small fractures
  • Controls seepage and partial losses
  • PSD provides dense packing of bridge/filter cake to provide strong, low-permeability seal
  • Provides higher strength bridges than is formed by fibrous or flake materials
  • Withstands high temperatures of geothermal applications

Design

When used in cement, concentrations from 5-15 lb/sk, PRESSUR-SEAL CG LCM is capable of controlling various degrees of lost circulation, including seepage and partial losses. It can also be beneficial when used with other solutions such as polymer mixes, DOBC or other "gunk" mixes. PRESSUR-SEAL LCM can be employed synergistically with other LCMs, especially flake or fibrous materials.

Mixing and Pumping

PRESSURE-SEAL is easily mixed in most mixers. Customary precautions should be taken to ensure that the material is well blended to avoid plugging dry transfer systems or jet nozzles in the bit, turbines and mud motors in downhole tools and cementing ports in stage collars and float equipment.

Packaging/Storage

PRESSUR-SEAL LCM is packaged in 40 lb. polybags. Superbags and bulk are available by special order.

PRESSUR-SEAL DF LCM top

PRESSUR-SEAL™ DF LCM is engineered for use as a drilling fluid additive. This high-strength granular material is chemically inert and acts quickly to stop high-volume losses of drilling fluids by bridging and sealing high-permeability pores and fractures. The inert nature of PRESSUR-SEAL LCM makes it well suited for use with oil-based drilling fluids. Electrical stability measurements indicate minimal effects on emulsion stability.

Features

  • Broad particle size distribution (PSD) of less than 74 micrometers (200 mesh) to 4,750 micrometers (4 mesh), engineered for optimum bridging and sealing
  • Unique PSD is specially formulated for sealing fractures
  • Special grades can be blended to custom specifications
  • Inert in well construction fluids
  • Porous with low apparent specific gravity
  • High mechanical strength
  • Virtually no effect on electrical stability
  • Durable at extremely high temperatures (up to at least 600 F)

Benefits

  • Has minimal effect on fluid properties
  • Bridges a wide range of porous matrices and small fractures
  • Controls seepage and partial losses
  • PSD provides dense packing of bridge/filter cake to provide strong, low-permeability seal
  • Provides higher strength bridges than is formed by fibrous or flake materials
  • Withstands high temperatures of geothermal applications
